TALEEM FINANCE COMPANY LIMITED (TFCL)
It gives me great pleasure to announce that for the first time in Pakistan a specialized company has been set up to address the financial needs of Middle and Low cost Private schools across the country and partner with them to meet the immense challenges that the education sector faces across the country.
Education has been recognized as the basic human right since the 1948 adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human rights. Pakistan is the 5th largest country in the world with a population of about 230 million in 2019, which is almost 3% of the overall world’s population. About 63% of the country’s population is under the age of 25. The country, as a whole has a severely underfunded Education system. Paksitan’s basic education sector is overburdened by strong population growth and the system fails to integrate large parts of this youth population. There remains a less than inadequate fit between national priorities and literacy strategies.
Taleem Finance Company limited with the support of Gray Matters Capital USA has taken upon the urgent task of making an impact in the education quality being imparted by Middle and low-cost private schools. There is no denying the fact that the issues related to education span many critical areas needing the attention of the state and private sector but its important that everyone picks their battles as per the expertise they possess. At TFCL we have gathered a team of strong professionals from the financial services and education sector who will endeavor to bring the MCPS and LCPS at par with the top segment of private schools in terms of learning outcomes, while making these institutions more sustainable contributors to quality education in Pakistan. Moreover, through our various financial products we plan on rigorously promoting and advancing education quality, reaching out to over 1 million students by 2024.
We have a long way to go in this journey and hope to tap into areas where middle and low cost private schools can benefit from our support. I am extremely grateful to GMC for the role they have played in enabling TFCL to become a beacon of hope for quality education across Pakistan. We look forward to extending our services to as many areas of Pakistan as possible and to ensure to support to all schools to its fullest. TFCL will also be raising awareness on bad teaching practices prevalent in our society through its non-financial interventions. We will push the boundaries in making best practices the norm across all schools that we work with and TFCL will continue to launch campaigns in the future and commit to providing a voice to all schools for enabling them to impart the highest quality of education.
I would like once again acknowledge all our supporters, including the regulator SECP, without whose support this new establishment would not have been possible. It was only with their encouragement and support that TFCL endeavors to be a benchmark for all future players in this sector.
Sincerely,
